Owl’s Head

Owl’s Head is a mountain and four-season destination in the Canton de Potton (Potton Township), in the MRC de Memphrémagog in the Eastern Townships (Estrie), on the west shore of Lake Memphremagog, right next to the village of Mansonville. About 2 hours from Montreal via Highway 10, the resort brings together skiing, golf, hiking and lakeside living, and draws families, skiers and cottagers who want the mountain and the water in one place.

Living at Owl’s Head

Life revolves around the mountain and the lake. The village of Mansonville, a few minutes away, has local services, two elementary schools (in French and in English) and a CLSC (local community health centre) service point. For French-language high school and the emergency department, Magog is about forty minutes away. Some owners live here year-round; others come for weekends and holidays, summer and winter.

The mountain

Opened in 1965, the Owl’s Head resort has 50 runs and 6 lifts, with views of Lake Memphremagog, plus 16 alpine touring routes. In summer, the 18-hole golf course (par 72), designed by Graham Cooke and opened in 1992, is played at the foot of the mountain, and the region’s trails, including those of the Green Mountains Nature Reserve (Réserve naturelle des Montagnes-Vertes), take over.

Lake Memphremagog

At the foot of the mountain, Lake Memphremagog stretches south into Vermont. It is reached from the beach, the Owl’s Head marina and the wharf in the neighbouring hamlet of Vale Perkins. Kayaking, sailing, boating and swimming are part of summer life, with Mount Owl’s Head as the backdrop.
