Granby

Granby is a city of about 69,000 residents in the MRC de La Haute-Yamaska, in the Estrie administrative region and the Eastern Townships tourist region. About 1 hour 10 minutes from Montreal via Highway 10 and 1 hour 15 minutes from Sherbrooke, it suits families, first-time buyers and retirees who want every service without giving up nature.

Living in Granby

Granby offers the daily life of a regional city: shops, jobs and a lively downtown along rue Principale. Families can count on many elementary schools, three high schools (de la Haute-Ville, Joseph-Hermas-Leclerc and l’Envolée) and the Cégep de Granby, which lets students go on to college without leaving town. The Hôpital de Granby, with an emergency department, and the CLSC de la Haute-Yamaska (local community health centre) provide care close to home.

Outdoors and nature in Granby

Lac Boivin, formed on the Yamaska Nord River, is the city’s great green space. The Centre d’interprétation de la nature du lac Boivin maintains nearly 10 km of trails through marsh, wet meadow and hemlock forest. The municipal bike network exceeds 100 km and connects to the Estriade toward Waterloo and the Montérégiade toward Farnham, two trails on the Route verte. Parc national de la Yamaska, in Roxton Pond, is a few minutes away.

Culture and local flavours

Every August, the Festival international de la chanson de Granby brings the city to life; its 58th edition was held in 2026. The Zoo de Granby combines an animal park, the Amazoo water park and an amusement park. On Saturdays from May to November, the Marché public de Granby et région brings producers together at Place du Marché, steps from the Palace de Granby, the performance hall on rue Principale.

Real estate in Granby

The housing stock is varied: single-family homes in established or newer neighbourhoods, condos, two- or three-unit plexes and building lots. Families look for proximity to schools and parks, first-time buyers and investors look at condos and plexes, and retirees appreciate having the hospital and shops close at hand. Access to Lac Boivin, the bike paths and downtown often weighs in a property’s value.
