Fitch Bay is a village in the Canton de Stanstead (Stanstead Township), a municipality of 1,148 residents (2021 census) in the MRC de Memphrémagog, in the Eastern Townships (Estrie), near the bay of the same name on Lake Memphremagog. About 25 minutes from Magog, about 50 minutes from Sherbrooke and about 2 hours from Montreal, it suits people looking for countryside, water and space.

The Narrows covered bridge is the village’s symbol. Built in 1881 by Charles and Alexander McPherson, of Georgeville, it spans the bay at its narrowest point, along Route 247. Slated for demolition in the 1970s, it was saved thanks to a citizen campaign, and a modern bridge was built beside it. It is one of the few covered bridges in Quebec to cross part of a lake. The township’s heritage tour then leads to Georgeville, where the general store offers bread, homemade dishes and local products.
