Bromont is a city of about 11,400 residents in the MRC de Brome-Missisquoi, at the foot of Mount Brome, in the Estrie administrative region and the Eastern Townships tourist region. It is about 1 hour 10 minutes from Montreal via Highway 10 and about 1 hour 5 minutes from Sherbrooke. Bromont suits active families, skiers, cyclists and professionals in the technology sector.
Bromont has distinct neighbourhoods: Vieux-Bromont and its historic rue Shefford, Mont Soleil near the slopes and the golf course, the Lac Bromont area, and Adamsville, which has kept its village character. For elementary school, children attend École de la Chantignole or École Saint-Vincent-Ferrier, and the high school is assigned by address. Bromont has its own CLSC (local community health centre), and the nearest hospital is in Cowansville. The science park, home to IBM and C2MI, also makes Bromont an employment hub.
Bromont, montagne d’expériences has more than 120 runs, over 80 of them lit for night skiing, across seven mountain faces, and in summer it becomes a water park and a mountain bike centre. Parc des Sommets offers 140 km of multi-use trails, free for residents. Lac Bromont has its municipal beach, the Centre national de cyclisme is home to the Sylvan Adams velodrome, and the Parc équestre olympique, host of the equestrian events of the 1976 Games, welcomes the International Bromont every summer. Three golf courses complete the picture.
In Vieux-Bromont, the public market sets up on Sundays at the Place publique, from late June to mid-October, and every late summer the Bromont en art symposium brings together more than a hundred artists. Espace culturel St. John hosts concerts and shows, and the Musée du chocolat de la Confiserie Bromont, open since 1993, draws chocolate lovers to rue Shefford.
The range is wide: condos and homes at the foot of the slopes, properties with ski or golf access in Mont Soleil, family homes in established neighbourhoods, character properties in Vieux-Bromont and large semi-rural lots toward Adamsville and Pierre-Laporte. Families and professionals value the schools and the science park; active retirees, the trails and golf. Access to the slopes, mountain views and proximity to Vieux-Bromont all weigh in a property’s value.
Bromont combines elementary schools, a CLSC, technology jobs and direct access to skiing, the Parc des Sommets trails and Lac Bromont.
Bromont is about 85 km from Montreal, roughly 1 hour 10 minutes by car via Highway 10.
According to the Ville de Bromont, short-term rentals are generally not permitted, except in zones where light lodging (hébergement léger) is allowed. Before buying, have the regulations checked for the specific address.
In Bromont, you will find condos and homes near the slopes, properties on golf courses, family homes and large semi-rural lots.
