Eastman

Eastman is a municipality of 2,279 residents (2021 census) in the MRC de Memphrémagog, in the Eastern Townships (Estrie), at the foot of Mount Orford along Highway 10. About an hour and a half from Montreal, about 40 minutes from Sherbrooke and 15 minutes from Magog, it appeals to families, remote workers and culture lovers who want a real village.

Living in Eastman

Created in 2001 by the merger of the village of Eastman and the municipality of Stukely, Eastman saw its population grow by nearly 24% between 2016 and 2021. The village covers most of daily life: École primaire du Val-de-Grâce, the Danielle-Simard library, cafés, an artisan bakery and shops. For the hospital and high school, Magog is about 15 minutes away.

Outdoors and nature in Eastman

Eastman is surrounded by lakes: Lac d’Argent, source of the Missisquoi Nord River, Lac Orford and Lac Parker, plus Lac Stukely, shared with Orford and Bonsecours. La Montagnarde trail is used for cycling and walking in summer, then for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Parc Missisquoi Nord offers hiking and kayaking, and a trail network links Eastman to Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton over about 20 kilometres. Arbre Aventure adds obstacle courses and snow tubing.

Culture and local flavours

Known as the literary village of the Eastern Townships, Eastman has hosted Les Correspondances d’Eastman since 2003; the 24th edition was held in September 2026. Théâtre La Marjolaine, considered the forerunner of summer theatre in Quebec, and the Le Cabaret venue keep the local stage busy. Spa Eastman welcomes wellness seekers. For food lovers, Dora Boulangerie Artisanale, Café Bistro Les Trois Grâces and the Huit5quatre table d’hôte are village addresses.
