Mansonville is the main village of the Canton de Potton (Potton Township), a municipality of about 2,000 residents in the MRC de Memphr\u00e9magog, at the foot of Mount Owl’s Head, in the Estrie region of the Eastern Townships.<\/strong> The village is about 2 hours from Montreal via Highway 10 and about 1 hour 10 minutes from Sherbrooke. It draws skiers, golfers and cottagers who want the mountain and Lake Memphremagog a few minutes away.<\/p>\n

Living in Mansonville<\/h2>\n

Mansonville is the administrative centre of the township, which also includes the hamlets of Vale Perkins, Knowlton’s Landing, Highwater and Dunkin. The village has two elementary schools, \u00c9cole du Baluchon, in French, and Mansonville Elementary School, in English. French-language high school is at \u00c9cole de la Ruche in Magog, also home to the nearest emergency department, and a CLSC (local community health centre) service point is located on rue Principale.<\/p>\n

Outdoors and nature in Mansonville<\/h2>\n

Mount Owl’s Head is the area’s signature: a 50-run ski resort opened in 1965, with views of Lake Memphremagog, and an 18-hole golf course designed by Graham Cooke. The lake is reached at the municipal beach and the Vale Perkins wharf. In the Green Mountains Nature Reserve (R\u00e9serve naturelle des Montagnes-Vertes), the Singer sector offers about 20 kilometres of trails, and the Missisquoi Nord River runs through the township.<\/p>\n

Culture and local flavours<\/h2>\n

The Mansonville round barn, built in 1911-1912, is the village’s heritage emblem, and the Fronti\u00e8re covered bridge, built in 1896, was classified as a heritage property in 2024. In summer, the Dimanches au parc bring Place Manson to life. At the table, Pineapple bar \u00e0 manger on rue des Pins and Ferme Abbondanza in Dunkin, known for its heritage seedlings, are good addresses.<\/p>\n
